God sees you as valuable

MEET Wubhidle

Wubhidle (woo-bid-ill) is a fun young man who loves to make people laugh and always has a smile on his face.

Watch the video (read the subtitles for your little kiddos) and then discuss Wubhidle’s story together.

Does Wubhidle’s day seem similar to yours? If so, how?

Wubhidle can now go through his day and do what most children do; eat, go to school, and study!

Why do you think Wubhidle had to work as a shepherd when he was so young?

Children in poor situations have to work to have enough money for food. Because of that they don’t have time to go to school or play.

How is Wubhidle’s life different now that he has a family and a home?

Wubhidle doesn’t have to worry about working, what he will eat or if he will go to school. He has all he needs now!

Wubhidle’s name means Beautiful Chance
The word for “snacks” in Oromo is “mekses”
Most children in Ethiopia walk to school

Matthew 6:25

“Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?”

Why shouldn’t we worry about what we will eat or the clothes we’ll wear?

How does it feel to know you are valuable to God?

What can you do now that you know God loves you and provides for you?

God sees you as valuable

When Wubhidle was young and working as a shepherd he didn’t know where his food would come from or if he would ever go to school. Now, Wubhidle has a comfy bed, plenty of food, and time to go to school and study. He doesn’t have to worry anymore because God has provided all of his needs. God sees all of us as valuable and He will always take care of us.

Close in prayer

God, thank you for being a God who provides! We praise you because you love us and call us valuable. Thank you for caring for Wubhidle and giving him a loving family and a home to live in. Help us remember that we don’t have to worry about things because you give us all we need. Please continue to provide for the children in Ethiopia and remind them how valuable they are. Amen.

Print and cut on the dotted lines to make gratitude prayer cards. Fill in the blanks on your own or as a family of why you are thankful for the things God provides. There’s even a couple cards that are blank to choose things that are special to you.

Use the cards to pray and thank God for all the ways He cares for you!
