FUN FACTS
BIBLE VERSE
2 Corinthians 12:9
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
QUESTIONS
Desta doubted she could be a mom. How did God help her?
Do you ever feel weak? When?
What does God give us when we are weak?
BIG IDEA
Desta knows how it feels to be weak and needy. She shared how she didn’t know if she could take care of her daughter because of her sickness. But now we get to see that through Desta’s struggles, God was with her and he gave her strength! The Lord tells us that His grace is enough for us and we have His power working in us when we are weak. That is good news! God is always with us and wants to help us, just like He has always been with Desta.
Close in prayer
Lord, thank you for being with Desta and giving her the strength and grace to take care of her children. We praise you because even in hard times you are with us and want to help us. Help us to look to you when we are weak and to depend on your power. Please keep giving Desta the strength she needs to care for her children every day. We love you, amen.
ACTIVITY
As a family, go around the house and find a few things you are all strong enough to carry and things only the adults in your house can carry. Now, think about some things that NO ONE in your family could pick up because they would be too heavy!
Talk about how we, as humans, have limitations. We are not able to do certain things and some things we aren’t strong enough for. Now, talk about God and how there is nothing He can’t do. When we talk about God’s strength it is different than physical strength. Think of times as a family you had to rely on the strength that only God can give. Praise Him for those times!
